Six Wrestlers Triumph in Qualifiers, Eyeing 2024 Olympic Dreams!


FAIRFAX, Virginia – In an intense showdown at the Last Chance Olympic Team Trials Qualifier in Fairfax, Virginia, six outstanding men's freestyle wrestlers have punched their ticket to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

The event was a showcase of emerging talent, with rising stars like Jax Forrest shining bright in the 57 kg. Forrest, a high school sophomore and 2022 U17 World silver medalist, displayed his dominance by defeating the seasoned Nathan Tomasello in the finals with a commanding 10-0 victory.

At 65 kg, Matthew Kolodzik, a 2023 Bill Farrell silver medalist, showcased his skill by outclassing the impressive Bo Bassett, the 2021 U17 World champion, with a decisive 10-0 technical fall.

In the 74 kg weight class, Vincenzo Joseph, a two-time NCAA champion, secured his spot at the Olympic Trials with a hard-earned 2-0 win over Yahya Thomas, a two-time age-group World Team member and NCAA All-American.

The 86 kg finals featured a showdown between seasoned competitors, with former U.S. Open champion David McFadden emerging victorious over CISM Military World champion Morgan McIntosh with a dominant 12-2 technical fall. Both McFadden and McIntosh boast impressive credentials as three-time NCAA All-Americans.

Completing the lineup of qualifiers are Christian Carroll at 97 kg, a two-time U20 World Team member, and Jaron Smith at 125 kg, a former Maryland Terrapin wrestler. These talented wrestlers have earned their spots at the prestigious Olympic Trials, setting the stage for an electrifying competition in 2024.
