NC State Knocks Off West Virginia 34-6 In Home Opener.

Raleigh N.C.— The North Carolina St Wolfpack opened up dual competition hosting the Mountaineers of West Virginia at the Reynolds Coliseum. In a dual that started at 125lbs, #9 Jakob Camacho got things started off right for the Wolfpack with a 14-4 major decision over Colton Drousias. From there Wolfpack would go on to win their next four matches. #17 Kai Orine would go out there at 133lbs take a 4-1 decision over Garrett Lautzenheiser. Ryan Jack, who entered this dual ranked 19th at 141lbs would edge out an 8-7 decision over Caleb Rea. Tariq Wilson, who finished third at NCAA tournament last season at 141lbs was up at 149lbs coming in ranked 3rd; stepping on the mat against Jeffrey Boyd. Wilson upped the offense and won a 13-4 major decision.

The Wolfpack would field Ed Scott at 157lbs against Alex Hornfeck. Scott was too much for Hornfeck scoring an 22-8 major decision victory. It appeared that Hornfeck’s cardio could not measure up as Scott kept a serious pace during the whole match. Ed Scott’s victory put the Wolfpack up 18-0. 16th ranked Peyton Hall put the Mountaineers on the board with a 6-3 decision over Thomas Bullard at 165lbs who entered in this dual meet ranked 17th.

5th ranked Hayden Hidlay would take the mat at 174lbs and score a 20-3 tech fall over West Virginia’s Dennis Robin. #5 ranked Trent Hidley would one up his brother Hayden scoring the only pin of the dual against Anthony Carman with a good old JV headlock that occurred in :23 seconds of the first period. The Wolfpack’s Issac Trumble, ranked 19th would earn an 18-0 techfall over Jackson Moomau at 197lbs. Michael Wolfgram would score a razor close 6-5 decision over the Wolfpack’s 20th ranked Owen Trephan 6-5 in the final match of the dual.
