Intense Wrestling Action at the Super 32 Championships: Quarterfinals Showdowns & Favorites emerge

Greensboro, NC-After an exciting day of intense wrestling, we have finally reached the quarterfinals of the highly anticipated 2023 Super 32 Championships.


In the top quad of the 106lbs weight class, Joe Bachmann from Pennsylvania has secured his spot in the quarterfinals with an impressive 18 to 3 victory over Jake Landis from Ohio. Bachmann, a previous winner of multiple youth Super 32 titles, enters this match with a strong sense of momentum. His opponent, Ezekiel Witt from Kansas, advanced to the quarterfinals with a commanding 10 to 0 victory over Jason McGinty from New Jersey.

The winner of this match will go on to face the victor of the match between Caleb Noble from Illinois and Shamus Regan from South Carolina. Interestingly, both wrestlers have previously claimed individual titles at the United States Marine Corps freestyle championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Noble secured his place in the quarterfinals with a solid 3-0 victory over Julian Rios from Massachusetts, who had to fight hard for a narrow 1-0 win against Cameron Sontz from New Jersey.

In the bottom quad, we have Ignacio Villasenor from Colorado, who recently earned a bronze medal in the world championships this summer. He will be going head-to-head against Rylan Secrist from Ohio. Villasenor advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Cooper Foster from North Carolina with an impressive 13-0 score. On the other hand, Secrist had to battle hard for an 8-5 decision victory over Dominic Deputy from Pennsylvania to secure his spot in the quarters. Villasenor is heavily favored to win the matchup. The winner will then face either Rocco Hayes from Illinois or Grey Burnett from Ohio. Hayes secured a 5 to 3 decision victory over Rocco Cassiopi of Illinois to reach the quarterfinals, while Burnett secured a solid 6-1 decision win against fellow Ohio wrestler Ayden Dodd.


In the top quad at 113lbs, Aaron Seidel from Pennsylvania will face off against Jermaine Peace from South Carolina. Both wrestlers have achieved multiple state championships in their respective states. Seidel, who recently secured a second place finish at the United States Marine Corps freestyle championships in Fargo this summer, is ready for the battle. Seidel reached the quarterfinals after winning a 15 to 0 technical fall over Raekwon Shabazz of Connecticut. Peace won a 9 to 2 decision over Roclin Zinkin of California. The winner will face Ayden Smith and Matt O'Neil, both from Pennsylvania. Smith won a 4 to 2 decision over Ayden Thomas of Oklahoma, while O'Neill shut out Iowa's Dru Ayala 7 to 0 to earn his advancement. The victor of that match will face the winner of Davis Motyka of Pennsylvania and Domenic Munaretto of Illinois. Munaretto, a 2022 Cadet world freestyle champion, secured a spot in the quarters with a 14 to 2 major decision victory over Nikos Filippos of Pennsylvania. Motyka secured his advancement with a 4-0 win over Titan Friederichs of Minnesota. Munaretto is the favorite to win that matchup, however, you can't underestimate Motyka as he is no stranger to the national scene. He has shown tremendous improvement while taking advantage of the training partners and resources at the powerhouse Wyoming Seminary prep school.

The winner of the match will go on to face either Joseph Uhorchuk from Tennessee or Landon Sidun from Pennsylvania. Sidun, who won a national title in Freestyle in Fargo over the summer, earned his spot in the quarterfinals by winning a big 13 to 1 major decision, victory over Brock Rothermel, who is also from Pennsylvania. Uhorchuk won a close 4-0 decision over Anthony DeAndrea from New Jersey to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.


In the 120lbs division, Anthony Knox from New Jersey will be competing against Antonio Mills from Georgia. Knox, who was the winner of this event in 2021 and came in second place last year, earned his spot in the quarterfinals by achieving a dominant 15-0 technical fall victory over Antonio Rodriguez from California. Mills secured his spot in the quarterfinals by narrowly winning a 4-0 decision against Cam Stinson, a three-time state champion from North Carolina. Knox is currently considered the favorite to win this matchup.

The winner of that match will go on to compete against either Kenu Dillard from Pennsylvania or Ethan Rivera from Florida. Dillard earned his place in the quarterfinals by winning a 6-1 decision against Israel Borge from Maryland. However, Rivera, who attends wrestling powerhouse Lake Highland Prep, is currently considered the favorite to win this match.

Nathan Desmond from Pennsylvania is set to compete against Ronnie Ramirez from California. Desmond, who previously wrestled at Bethlehem Catholic school, made the decision to transfer to Wyoming Seminary prep school over the summer in order to further improve his skills. He secured a spot in the quarterfinals by achieving a dominant 14-0 major decision victory over Carson Dupill from Tennessee. Ramirez, on the other hand, advanced to the quarterfinals by winning a 7-2 decision against Cannon Akalın from Oklahoma. Currently, Desmond is considered the favorite to win this matchup.

The winner of that match will go on to face either Tyler Dekraker from Virginia or Christian Castillo from Arizona. Castillo, who is the reigning Super 32 champion after winning the event last year in 2022, also achieved a Cadet Freestyle world championship in Rome, Italy during the summer. Castillo earned his place in the quarterfinals by winning a 7-2 decision against Dale Corbin from Wisconsin. Dekraker secured his spot in the quarterfinals by narrowly winning a 2-1 decision against Chris Huerta from California. Currently, Castillo is considered the favorite to win this match.


In the 126lbs weight class, an exciting matchup is set to unfold between Jax Forrest from Pennsylvania and Noah Nininger from Virginia. Forrest secured his spot in the quarterfinals with an impressive 20-5 technical fall victory over Ethan Uhorchuk from Tennessee. Meanwhile, Nininger advanced due to a forfeit from his opponent, Anthony Mutarelli from Pennsylvania.

Nininger, a seasoned wrestler with notable achievements including two Virginia state championships and Fargo All-American status, is familiar with facing Forrest. They have trained together in the past and have had multiple matches against each other. However, Forrest has emerged victorious in their previous encounters, making him the favorite in this matchup.

The winner of this clash will go on to face either Nick O'Neill from Pennsylvania or Dawson Youngblut from Iowa. O'Neill secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a close 3-0 decision victory over Thomas Verrette from Colorado. Youngblut, on the other hand, earned his place with a solid 9-4 decision win over Nickade Zinkin from California. While Youngblut was unseeded in this tournament, O'Neill is considered the favorite to come out on top in this matchup.

In the lower bracket, an exciting matchup is set to take place between J.J. McComas from Oklahoma and Jake Crapps from Georgia. McComas secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a solid 4-1 decision victory over Jackson Blum from Michigan, while Crapps earned his place with a close 4-2 win over Mason Ziegler from Pennsylvania. Despite finishing as a runner-up in this event last year, McComas is considered the favorite to come out on top in this matchup.

In the other quarterfinal bout, Eren Sement from Pennsylvania will go head-to-head with Seth Mendoza from Illinois. Mendoza earned his place in the quarterfinals with an impressive 16-1 technical fall over Cario Aron from Texas, while Sement secured his spot with a hard-fought 3-1 decision victory over LT Hawkins from Indiana.

Moving on to the 132lbs weight class, Drew Gorman from Georgia will face off against Ben Davino from Illinois. Davino, a defending Super 32 Champion and a member of the 2023 cadet world team, secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-1 victory over Tyler Traves from Virginia. On the other hand, Gorman earned his place with an impressive 15-1 technical fall over Jesse Grajeda from California. Davino is considered the favorite to win this matchup.

In another quarterfinal bout, Matt Botello from Massachusetts will take on Sergio Vega from Arizona. Vega advanced to the quarterfinals with an 11-6 decision win over Jayce Peridon from Florida. In the bottom quad, Bo Bassett from Pennsylvania, a defending Super 32 Champion and runner-up in 2021, will face Adrian Meza from Arizona. Bassett secured his spot in the quarters with a dominant 21-5 technical fall over Lucas Peters from Wisconsin. Meza, on the other hand, won a close 5-0 decision over Logan Swensen from Minnesota. Bassett is the clear favorite in this matchup.

Lastly, Tahir Perkins from Pennsylvania will battle Kyler Larkin from Arizona. Perkins advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 decision victory over Brandt Harer, also from Pennsylvania. Larkin defeated Cason Roark from Tennessee with a solid 7-0 victory. Larkin has emerged as the favorite to win this match.


Moving on to the 138lbs weight class, Sam Herring from Pennsylvania will go head-to-head against Landon Robideau from Minnesota. Robideau secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a close 3-0 victory over Carlo Stanton from Arizona. Herring, on the other hand, won by a convincing 10-1 major decision over Gunnar Andrick from West Virginia. Robideau is currently favored to win this matchup.

In another quarterfinal bout, Luke Simcox from Pennsylvania will face off against Jack Nelson from Minnesota. Simcox advanced to the quarterfinals with a narrow 4-3 decision win over Chase Van Hoven from Virginia. In the bottom quadrant, Paul Kelly from California will match up against Maddox Shaw from Pennsylvania. Kelly earned a very close 1-0 victory over Tyler Guerra from Illinois to secure his spot in the quarterfinals. Shaw, on the other hand, won an 11-4 decision victory over Daishun Powe from Alabama. Kelly is projected to be the favorite in this matchup.

Dalton Perry from Pennsylvania will battle Alex Braun from Minnesota. Both wrestlers have won state titles in their respective states. Perry defeated Yandro Soto from Florida with an 8-2 victory to advance to the quarterfinals. Braun, on the other hand, defeated Joseph Toscano with a 6-3 win. Braun appears to be the favorite to win this matchup.


At 144lbs Jaxon Joy Ohio is set to battle Melvin Miller of Pennsylvania. Joy advanced to the quarters with a 19 to 2 major major decision decision victory over Zeno Moore of Florida. Miller outlasted New Jersey's Logan Rozynski in a tough 5 to 3 decision victory. Joy looks to be the front runner to win this match up. Beau Hickman Oklahoma will wrestle Brogan Tucker of Ohio. Hickman won a 3 to 0 over Tommy Gibbs Indiana to advance. Tucker advanced to the quarterfinals with a 13 to 2 major decision win over Gabriel Bouyssou of Rhode Island. In the bottom quad, August Hibler of New Jersey will battle Logan Paradice of Georgia. Hibler won by disqualification to advance to the quarters after being illegally mat returned by his Pennsylvania opponent, Reagan Milheim and was unable to finish the match. Gavin Linsman of Missouri well face Cameron Catrabone of New York. Linsman won a 7 to 4 decision victory over Jason Kwaak of New York to advance to the quarters. Catrabone secured his spot with a tough 3-0 decision over Anderson Heap of Florida and is considered the odds-on favorite to win that match-up.


At 150lbs, Vince Bouzakis of Pennsylvania will face off against William Denny of Illinois. Bouzakis advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant 17-2 technical fall victory over Lane Snyder of Maryland. On the other hand, Denny secured his spot in the quarters with a convincing 10-0 major decision win against Jacob Schemadeke of Arizona. Bouzakis, who previously won a freestyle national title in Fargo this summer, is widely regarded as the frontrunner to win that matchup.

In another quarterfinal match, Ethan Parco of California will go head-to-head against Kody Routledge of Oklahoma. Parco earned his place in the quarterfinals with an impressive 10-0 major decision victory over Griffin Laplante of New York. Meanwhile, Routledge secured his spot with a hard-fought 5-0 decision win over Max Stien of Pennsylvania.

Kollin Rath of Pennsylvania will be wrestling against Kael Voinovich of Iowa. Voinovich advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant 13-2 major decision victory over Damian Montoya of California. Rath, on the other hand, secured his spot with an 8-1 win over Jimmy Mastny of Illinois. Rath is also considered the favorite to win that match.

Ty Wilson of Ohio will face Claudio Torres of Florida. Wilson advanced to the quarterfinals with a commanding 10-1 major decision win over Marcus Caro of California. Torres, on the other hand, secured his spot with a convincing 15-4 victory over Gabriel Logan of New Jersey.


At 157lbs, LaDarion Lockett of Oklahoma will be competing against Mekhi Neal of Maryland. Lockett secured his place in the quarterfinals with an 11-0 victory over Luke Sipes of Pennsylvania. Neal, on the other hand, earned his spot in the quarters with a convincing 17-3 win over Jake Dailey of Pennsylvania.

Leo Contino of California will be facing off against Matt Henrich of New Jersey. Henrich advanced to the quarterfinals with a dominant 12-3 major decision victory over Asher Cunningham of Pennsylvania. Contino had to fight hard and narrowly came out on top with a 1-0 decision win against Collin Young of Illinois to secure his spot.

In the lower quad, Cory Thomas of Michigan advanced to the quarterfinals after a 4-0 decision win over Terry Langley of Ohio. Joseph Antonio of California secured his spot with a 9-5 decision victory over Eddie Enright of Illinois. Darius Marines of Michigan won 7-1 over Greyson Woodcock of Ohio to earn his place in the quarterfinals. Marines will be facing Connor Harer of Pennsylvania, who won a dominant 13-1 major decision victory over Brent Nicolosi of Massachusetts to secure his spot in the quarters.


At 165lbs, Ethan Birden of Ohio secured his spot in the quarterfinals with an 8-4 victory over Xavier Giles of New York. He will be facing Lane Foard of Virginia, who won a 6-0 decision victory over Leandro Araujo of North Dakota to advance to the quarterfinals.

Benjamin Smith of Maryland won a close 4-2 decision over Max Norman of Tennessee to advance. Norman, on the other hand, will be facing Latrell Schaeffer of Georgia, who won an 11-4 decision over Brian Heard of Pennsylvania to earn his spot in the quarterfinals.

In the lower quadrant, Branson John of California secured a dominant 10-1 major decision victory over Bryce Griffin of Illinois. He will be facing Dominic Bambinelli of Georgia, a Grappler Fall classic champion and two-time state champion. Bambinelli earned his spot in the quarterfinals with a commanding 17-2 technical fall victory over Waylon Cressell of Indiana. Bambinelli is considered the favorite to win that matchup.

Kendrick Hodge of Florida advanced to the quarterfinals after a hard-fought 9-6 decision win over Jonathan Rocha of California. Hodge will be facing Alessio Parentin of New Jersey in his quarterfinal match. Parentin secured his spot with a dominant 17-6 major decision victory over Collin Carrigan of Illinois. Parentin is also considered the favorite to win his matchup.


At 175lbs, Cole Han-Lindemyer of Minnesota advanced to the quarterfinals after earning a hard-fought 4-1 victory over Eli Penton of Florida. Han-Lindemyer will face Braidon Woodward of New York, who defeated Conor McCloskey of Georgia 7-0. Han-Lindemyer is considered the favorite to win his match.

Matthew Jens of Illinois won a hard-fought 3-0 decision victory over Tyler Secoy of Georgia to advance to the quarterfinals. He will be facing Dominic Federici of Pennsylvania. Federici advanced to the quarterfinals after a 4-0 decision win over Cooper Durst of West Virginia. Federici is the odds-on favorite to win his matchup.

In the lower quadrant, Ryan Burton of New Jersey advanced to his quarterfinal match after a dominant 13-2 major decision victory over Eddie Neitenbach of Ohio. Burton will face Jake Stacey of Tennessee, who secured a 3-1 decision win over Israel Perez of Rhode Island. Neitenbach is considered the favorite to win that matchup.

Landon Jones of Georgia won a close 4-2 decision over Carson Thomas of Ohio. Thomas will face Haden Bottiglieri of Massachusetts, who won a 6-3 decision over Bryce Burkett of Minnesota.


At 190lbs, Aeoden Sinclair of Wisconsin dominated with a massive 21-5 technical fall victory over Robert Kucharczk of Florida. Sinclair will now face Cade Ziola of New England, who secured his spot in the quarterfinals with a 14-4 major decision win over Daniel Rella of New Jersey. Sinclair is considered the favorite to win that matchup.

Brokton Borelli of California advanced to the quarterfinals with a solid 4-0 decision win over Landon Shurtleff of Utah. He will be facing Tucker Hogan of Pennsylvania, who earned his spot in the quarterfinals with a dominant 16-0 technical fall victory over Lane Kiser of Kentucky. Hogan is the odds-on favorite to win that match.

In the bottom quad, Harvey Ludington of New Jersey secured an impressive 18-2 technical fall victory over Tayshun Glover of North Carolina to earn his spot in the quarterfinals. Ludington will face Karson Tompkins of Texas, who earned his spot with a 4-0 decision win over Anders Thompson of Montana.

Matthew Kowalski of Ohio won a solid 7-1 decision over Marco Christiansen of Minnesota to advance to the quarterfinals. He will be facing Rune Lawrence of Pennsylvania, who won a major decision victory over Carson Howie of South Carolina with a score of 11-0. Lawrence is considered the favorite to win their matchup.
