Expectations And Reality For Dominic Bambinelli After Three Weeks Of Recruiting

Dom Bambinelli is a high-level recruit in the class of 2025.

Dominic (Dom) Bambinelli is an outstanding wrestler and scorer. He is a 170-pounder who focuses on highly offensive matches that are fast-paced as well as entertaining. As June 15th rolled around, the recruitment process took off and coaches were genuinely eager to contact Dom and put themselves on his radar. Within the first day, many coaches were already on the phone texting and communicating with him fueling the start of recruitment.

Nebraska and Oklahoma were among the first to contact him, but others communicated soon after. He has been keen on communicating with every college that reaches out, but has put most of his focus on Fargo in hopes of winning the coveted stop sign. He’s been consistently improving his technique down to the small details that his coach Sammy Roundtree preaches will be the key to success at the Fargo Dome.

Dominic’s expectations entering June 15th were very humble. Dom believed that he wasn't going to see a numerous amount of coaches contacting him, especially on June 15th. Dom believed that coaches were going to wait until Jr Duals were finished or until mid-day before contacting him.

Reality would hit Dom as his expectations were exceeded. Many coaches reached out on June 15th; some were ready at 2 am. He remembered waking up to texts that were sent at 2 am and being blown away that people were that anxious to contact him. More coaches called through the week and completely blew his expectations of waiting until Jr Duals were over. It speaks to his humble character about his expectations and reaction to the reality of the situation.

Dom spoke about the conversations he had with college coaches and was surprised when they wanted to make a connection with him. Coaches were consistently trying to plan multiple communication times before, during, and after Fargo. A big surprise for him was the bond that the coaches were trying to make with him, asking about family as well as future visit dates.

Connectivity is a big part of recruitment with Dom. How he connects with the coaches and the other wrestlers will be a huge part of his decision-making when taking the next step. Places that can make him feel at home are going to have the best chance of landing this high-level recruit. Feeling at home is why he wishes to take his time searching for the right college.

RTCs are one of the biggest factors in choosing the next home for Dom. He wishes to train with great RTC coaches and partners year-round to further develop his Olympic styles. With a world title being one of his highest goals, an RTC has to be on his list when searching for a new home.

Dom hasn’t decided on his collegiate weight class yet as he's still growing and trying to fill out his new 170 weight class. Super 32 will be a big decision for him, whether cutting to 160 is the move or focusing on filling out 170. He plans to learn more about his collegiate weight class following Junior year but plans to make a statement in his first year of college.
